oh, it’s day 2 of the new year and my mind is racing!
i have lots of newness around the corner.
for starters, kiwi street’s website is finally coming…very, very soon!
see…

…along with a new blog, new creative outings, projects and lot’s of other surprises!
i . can’t . wait!!!
…
for today, i think we need some new photos.
and a visit with family means…the perfect foil for a {be beautiful} session.
really, a no reason other than to make beautiful pictures session.
and, since everyone loves to look and feel beautiful, how perfect!
gabriella and tasha were ready, this time a little different than ‘graffiti girls’
although style and fashion (totally theirs) still played a part.
(somehow i was able to sneak in the head ornaments)
…
gabriella’s bohemian look

oohhh… tasha’s green eyeshadow

yes, you’ve seen this window before.

oh, i love the bird hat…

some softness

some artness

can you hear her laugh!

you two are a.m.a.z.i.n.g

a sweet hello

and so it’s here for the next 365 days.
a new year.
new beginnings, adventures, discoveries..let it all in!
i have a new word for this new year though i came across it almost 2 years ago.
i’m borrowing it from elizabeth gilbert who wrote the book ‘eat, pray, love’ (a must read)
the word is {attraversiamo} and i love saying it!
the formal italian translation is ‘let us cross over’
i’m ready to cross over into all new possibilities.
this year i don’t want to just {write down} ‘resolutions’
don’t get me wrong, i think it’s sooo important to set goals…after all, you have to know where it is
you want to be, right? unless, of course, your goal is to wander aimlessly…no, thank you very much.
this year i want real goodness that i can touch and hold and attain.
i’m ready to {attraverisamo}, are you?
let’s do it!
let’s cross over and make the most of what we can be…no matter what!
we welcome 2009.
peace
love
&
joy
from my family to yours.

2008
over the weekend (i hate to admit) i was ‘briefly’ in a pitiful place…then out of nowhere the most beautiful melodic music
made it’s way through my fog filling up every part of my mind and soul with pure joy.
oh…the piano…oh, the piano and little girls…
oh, sophia and her piano.
sophia has just started composing and i can’t even begin to describe how beautiful
(have i already used that word, beautiful) her music is.
i grabbed my camera in hopes of capturing this small moment of saving grace,
our lives, her life, her music, her piano, her joy, her little fingers,
her innocence and pureness……forever.
i never ever want to forget today.

oh sophia, you always have a way of reminding me of what is truly important.
thank you for sharing your {beautiful} music.
i love projects. things to think about, things to work on.
it’s important to look at things from new perspectives and come away with fresh ideas.
now, trust me, it’s not that i have an abundance of time on my hands, but i do think it’s
important to keep learning and growing in every possible way.
so, as i was thinking about this and poking around online, i came across some great ideas!
these little ‘projects’ if you will, keep the creativity flowing.
here is the first of more to follow…
52 {strangers}
you can probably guess. yup, you got it. capturing strangers each week for 52 weeks.
how exciting! how scary! how daring!
i’m ready!!!! are you???
ok…i am going to start with one that i took on key west last summer.
(only current images from here on out i promise;)
i thought of this image immediately.
i couldn’t help it. he was just…there! and asleep! perfect!
i loved it! how much fun!
thank you, stranger #1.

so, for the next 52 weeks, let’s see who we dare to meet!
it’s the time of year when most of us stop for a moment to think about what we are grateful for.
and once we do this, it (hopefully) makes us appreciate all that we do have.
this in turn makes us behave a little differently…
we’re a little more patient, forgiving, giving….
so wouldn’t it be nice if we reminded ourselves more often about being grateful
and having all the goodness from it?
well, i came across this and thought what great way to do just that…
peace and happy thanksgiving today and everyday to all of us.
From The Secret Daily Teachings – Thank You Thursday
“Today is Thank You Thursday. Today and every Thursday is your day to say and feel “Thank you” in as many ways as you can.
Write a list of all the people and events you want to give thanks for.
Return thanks today to those who have done things for you.
As you walk say “Thank you” in your mind with each step you take.
As you drive, make each time you stop your cue to say “Thank you.”
At various times in the day, think and feel “Thank you” inside you seven times in a row.
Look for every opportunity to say “Thank you” to other people, and say it with so much meaning that the person looks right at you.
Thank your way through every Thursday, and make “Thank you” your predominant thought, feeling, and words of the day.
“Thank you” – two words, inconceivable potential power, and all they need is you to put the power into them by expressing them.
Thank you!”
well it didn’t take long to make plans for this (the second) creative outing!
it was my turn to choose a location and my choice was inside longworth hall…
with it’s wonderful textures, open spaces, windows and lots of light.
i also felt that we needed some’body’ to accompany us;)
i called…alex.
her dress set the stage for this editorial fashion adventure.
love how her dress flows….
the seam in the glass literally cuts her in two.
a little warming break…it was chilly!
the staircase.
ohhhh…moodiness! i do love these.
but i think alex is just about…
done!
peghi taking her last shot of the day as alex heads back to warmer clothes!
omg alex!
you were amazing!
thank you for providing us with so many unbelievably beautiful images and
letting us totally pretend we were two cool fashion photogs!!!!!
xoxo
sometimes it’s so easy to find inspiration everywhere and then other times….nothing.
we all go through it from time to time and some recharging is in order.
my friend and fellow photographer, peghi, suggested that we choose a location and
just go shoot what we see. a kind of creative adventure for ourselves…a creative scavenger hunt.
she had the great idea of roaming around coney island.
we went late in the afternoon.
the park had an alluring lonely abandoned atmosphere that made us
feel as if we were somewhere….not here…parfait!
entré
j’aime des parapluies {umbrellas}
stripes gave the feel of {le cirque}
le jardin
le photographe {pehgi}
l’amusement
i can’t even tell you how exciting, refreshing, fun and totally inspiring this little jump off the path was!
i think we’re calling them our ‘creative outings!’
i wonder where the next one will be?
au revoir
we all joke about how hard it is to be on
the other side of the camera,
but it’s no joke when you are there;)
pehgi has photographed me
(she made it easy and fun and…i loved my photos)
so now it was my turn to photograph her…
pehgi, my friend, fellow artist and
photographer extraordinaire.
:: you were m.a.r.v.e.l.o.u.s ::
she is a master at hair flipping:)
we leave the safety of her home and go on the road….
we went to a sweet little alley that we’ve both shot at before…
just not her;)
ok…i think we’re done here…
now for a whole different mood…
now…on to her
boathouse…
just made it before sunset!!!!
i love love love these
shadows and reflections.

and my very very favorite!
i had sooo much fun today just playing around…
pehgi, you are magical!
i love that you were so open to…
‘let’s just do a few more:)’
xoxo
