there are a few things my family (from florida) looks forward to, in fact,
down right expects when they come up to cincinnati for a visit…
the white stuff is first on the list. and one that i am somehow expected to order up.
i think my order was lost this year.
but, we did go ice skating!!! well, some of us.
i went the week before with sophia and her friends.
let’s just say i’m still moving slow. so for today, i’m happy to document the fun.

tasha and gabriella on fountain square.
they really are best cousins, can you tell?

just a ‘little little’ while we’re here.

ok, back to the family.
while we’re w.a.i.t.i.n.g
evan is not amused with mr. and mrs. frosty.
he just wants to get on the ice!

this is what happens when you’re waiting in line with someone who has a camera.

sophia sat this one out too.
something about falling 21 times…

finally! there they go.

oops!

you’re ok!!

watch out, dad’s trying to hug you.

there was no white stuff of the fluffy kind, but plenty of family fun.
xoxo

project addition.
i like this one. i even like saying it. {wordless wednesday}
i think the name speaks for itself.
i am starting this one off with words, though.
because, it’s too near my heart.
rosie chambers’ grave.

almost 13 years ago, alex (8 at the time) came downstairs (again)
and insisted that she heard a kitty meowing outside.
as we had already put her to bed at least 4 times that night,
we opened the front door to show her there was no kitty.
well, there was, indeed, a kitten just sitting at our front door.
rosie chambers joined our family that night.
how lucky and wonderful for all of us.
after many years of unforgettable memories and adventures,
the last 2 weeks have been spent
first in, hmmm, i she ok? then, well, no, but she’s a cat, she’ll pull through.
then, the tests. then, denial.
then, anything to make her comfortable and to make her know she was thoroughly loved. (she did)
early this evening the time came to watch rosie fall quietly and peacefully asleep…
i can still smell you
rosie chambers.

wow.
this is soooo much harder and challenging than i ever, ever thought it would be!
if i told you how many times i had my camera out with me and did not have
the nerve to go up to a stranger and talk about what i was doing…..
i’m not giving up, though. i’m still going to go for 52…but i’m amending it to
‘within the year’
is that cheating? no, it’s my blog!
and…i think it’s fine to use photos of strangers you have already shot…as long as they were truly strangers.
so, i think i will post another picture that i had already taken (of course;)
i took this photo on an island in greece on my honeymoon.
this sweet, mysterious little girl was sitting right outside
our alley pension… three days in a row…same place, same dress, same forlorn look.
we would smile at her, but nothing came back.
i was so taken by her.
i think about her every now and then.
i would love to look her up now, 15 years later.

i’ve named her ‘petra’
